This listing is for one halter plate.

These halter tags are 3/4" by 4" long and made of durable brass with a 0.75mm thickness. They come with rivets to attach to your halter. The rivets are attached by gently tapping the two sides together once the halter plate is lined up on the halter.

These plates are engraved with a rotary/drag engraver which etches the letters into the metal. The letters are then blackened. This is done by hand and so the blackening may not be perfectly even, although we always do our best to provide a quality hand-made product. Bigger letters tend to blacken better. If you wish to have the original silver letting simply leave us a note in the customization box.

Each plate can fit one to two lines of text and up to 15 characters, including spaces. The text you want will be copy and pasted over to the engraver so please check your work for errors and capitalization. The Roman style font used is not all capitals (although it appears that way), a capital letter is will result in a larger letter as in the samples. If you use capitals for all letters it will result in all letters being larger. It usually looks best to use regular capitalization rules, even with Roman font.

Measurement Instructions

  1. Measure the thickness of the halter in millimeters.
  2. Add 4 millimeters to that measurement.
  3. choose the rivet size which is the same or slightly greater than this number.
    • Example: Halter is 6mm thick. 5+4=9mm. You would choose the 10mm rivets.

It is important to measure for your halter to be sure that the rivets chosen will fit. If the rivet is much too small and forced to close, it can damage the plate. If it is too long, it will be loose. We do offer the choice to get all three sizes of rivets if you are in between sizes and are not sure.

Attachment Instructions

  1. Hold plate up to the surface you wish to attach to in desired position.
  2. Mark holes using a pencil, pen, etc. and remove plate
  3. Punch holes on the marks using a leather hole punch or desired device
  4. Align plate with newly punched holes and thread a rivet through one side
  5. Place cap on the other end of the rivet and gently push rivets together. A hammer should be used to close the rivets, take care not to crush them for appearance reasons. It is important that the correct size rivet is used so that the plate is not pinched, or loose. A long rivet can also attach crooked.
  6. Repeat on other side
  7. If you feel your plate is not secure enough, locktight, nail polish, or a small dot of super glue can be used inside the rivets/ on the chicago screw thread when installing them to keep them secure. Be sure to work quickly so it does not dry prior to installation. We always recommend this on plates which will go on halters worn full time.

    Absolutely stunning!

I am in love with my brass plate with black engraving! It looks so beautiful on my leather halter and the colouring with the contrast letters is stunning. It is great quality as well. I highly recommend.
