These dog tags are custom engraved with your choice of text. The tag can fit up to 3 lines, and the name is engraved in an all caps bold font as shown in the samples. Additional information is engraved in the single line font. The more lines you add, the smaller the text will be.
The method of engraving is a drag or rotary engrave, which means that the words are actually etched into the metal. The words will appear in silver.
These tags are about 2" wide and 3/4" tall. They come with the rivets to attach to the collar.
Add a collar bell to the order for just $2. Collar bells come with an additional ring so that you can hang them from another part of the collar. We recommend not hanging them, or any other tags, on the same ring with your pet tag as they can wear the paint from the tag. The bell colour will be the same as, or complimentary to, your chosen tag colour. If you have a colour you would like, or not like, to receive, please include a note. We will do our best to accommodate, but can not guarantee as the colours we receive in bulk are random.
Measurement Instructions
- Measure the thickness of the collar in millimeters.
- Add 3 millimeters to that measurement.
- choose the rivet size which is the same or slightly greater than this number.
- Example: Collar is 6mm thick. 6+3=9mm. You would choose the 10mm rivets.
It is important to measure for your collar to be sure that the rivets chosen will fit. If the rivet is much too small and forced to close, it can damage the tag. If it is too long, it will be loose.
Attachment Instructions
- Hold tag up to the surface you wish to attach to in desired position.
- Mark holes using a pencil, pen, etc. and remove plate
- Punch holes on the marks using a leather hole punch, drill, or desired device safely
- Align tag with newly punched holes and thread a rivet through one side
- Place cap on the other end of the rivet and gently push rivets together. A hammer should be used to close the rivets, take care not to crush them for appearance reasons. It is important that the correct size rivet is used so that the tag is not pinched, or loose. A long rivet can also attach crooked.
- Repeat on other side
- If you feel your plate is not secure enough, locktight, nail polish, or a small dot of super glue can be used inside the rivets/ on the chicago screw thread when installing them to keep them secure. Be sure to work quickly so it does not dry prior to installation. We always recommend this on plates which will go on halters worn full time.
