Our leather halter tags for rope halters are a great addition to add a little style and identification to your leather halters. We use real leather which is cut and engraved with our laser engraver to personalize the tag. We finish the tags off by dying the engraving by hand to darken it, and applying a leather conditioner.
Since this is real leather, not every piece is the same shade and may have normal blemishing. Each tag will likely not be exactly the same due to this, and this is what makes leather unique. We do choose pieces that are not overly dark or have large unsightly blemishes. Leather may be more red, more brown, darker, or lighter. If you have a preference please add it to the order notes and we will pick you a leather that is as close as possible from what we have available.
These tags come with 5 rivets to attach the tag to the rope halter, as well as 3 spares- just in case.
The tag is 3" by 1-1/4" when installed, and is engraved on one side with the text of your choice. We recommend using all capitals for most names, particularly those with hanging letters like j,y, and g. That being said, the name will be copied over to our engraver in the exact spelling and capitalization you use in the customization box. Shorter names best suit this tag, but just keep in mind that if you use a long name the letters will be smaller in order to fit.
Just like with your other leather tack items, leather can last a long time if it is properly cared for. This is real leather so it can be cleaned with leather cleaner and oiled with your saddle/ bridle oiling products. Take care to test products on the back of the tag as some products may darken the leather. Also, take note that if you wash the tag the letters may become lighter, as you may wash the dye from them.
To attach these plates you do not need any tools other than a small hammer and some super glue. To attach the tag, just fold the tag over the cheek strap on the halter and apply the rivets to the predrilled holes, through both layers. Use a hammer to tap the two sides together for a firm hold. To be sure that these small rivets will not come apart, we highly recommend applying a dab of super glue, two part epoxy glue, or other strong glue to the end of the rivet when applying. Allow to dry before using the halter.
